Golf Tip

There is a lot of confusion surrounding the new rules governing grooves.
Perhaps this article can shed a little light...

The USGA's new rules with respect to the grooves of all irons went into effect this year, but only for tour players and elite amateurs. In effect, the new rule applies to about 1200 golfers. The only amateurs affected by the new rule are those that will compete in the US Amateur Championships.
For all other golfers, the new rule will not go into effect until 2024.

There is one more twist, however. Club manufacturers will only be allowed to make clubs with non-conforming grooves through 2010. They will be able to continue selling them through 2024, so the big question for the club companies is how many wedges do they produce and back stock? Titleist and Cleveland are the biggest names in wedges and they are anticipating a large increase in wedge sales as a result of these rules. Many golfers may feel the need to buy multiple sets of wedges to make sure they have enough clubs to last them through 2024. And there is something else you should know about these wedges... they spin the ball great!

The Cleveland CG15 is laser milled and produces the best spin rates of all the manufacturers. Titleist makes a spin milled wedge that comes close. Make sure you buy new wedges this year before they are harder to get!
